VIDEO: New Wilco Song 'One Wing'

Check this video of Wilco debuting their song 'One Wing' live during their set at Lollapalooza earlier this month. This could be the first taste of their 7th album which has been hinted at for a spring release. From Billboard,

"Tweedy says he expects Wilco will "allow ourselves a little bit more leeway in terms of sculpting the sound in the studio and doing overdubs and using the studio as another instrument. Last time around, it was more of a document."
Tweedy told WAMC he's going through a phase where he "kinda hate[s]" all of Wilco's six prior albums, because "none of them are a statement that I would be comfortable making right now at this point in my life. They all served their purpose, and in that respect I'm proud of all of them.

"But as something that feels artistically in keeping with who I am today, I think that they are inevitably going to fall short of that as time goes on. I mean, they just don't continue to mean the same things to me, and a new record is kind of where it's at."

Garfield Minus Garfield

"Garfield Minus Garfield is a site dedicated to removing Garfield from the Garfield comic strips in order to reveal the existential angst of a certain young Mr. Jon Arbuckle. It is a journey deep into the mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against loneliness and depression in a quiet American suburb."

I was sent a link to Garfield Minus Garfield at work today and spent next 20 minutes laughing. A new comic is added every Monday - Friday.

CORRECTION: No Radiohead Score For 'Choke'

Despite reports on pretty much every music blog on the interwebs, Radiohead will not be contributing the score for the film adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk's 'Choke'.
According to ateaseweb.com, industry sources have denied reports of the band’s score for the film.

From At Ease Web, "the film, directed by Clark Gregg, debuted at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year featuring a score by Nathan Larson (of Shudder To Think) and that hasn’t changed. The film however does have a Radiohead song in the film’s closing credits, which is ‘Reckoner’ from the band’s latest album ‘In Rainbows’. Movie score specialists The Playlist have received a confirmation on this from the music supervisors on the film, Ken Weinstein and Lyle Hysen. Chuck Palahniuk apparently made a mistake in the interview this morning.

Beside’s Radiohead’s ‘Reckoner’, the Choke soundtrack includes Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! (’Satan Said Dance’), The Fiery Furnaces (’Navy Nurse’), Ben Kweller (’The Rules’), The Twilight Singers (’There’s Been An Accident’) and Rogue Wave (’Lake Michigan’)."

If you ask me, this flick has enough cool things going on for it as it is. A Radiohead score would have been just too much to handle.

If you haven't already seen it, check out the theatrical trailer.

Radiohead scores the new Chuck Palahniuk film "Choke"

Radiohead has written the score for forthcoming film "Choke" – a movie based on a book of the same name by Chuck Palahniuk, who wrote "Fight Club".

The Oxford band wrote a song for the final credit sequence of the film, which will be released in November, then agreed to score the rest of the film after seeing a working version of it. Palahniuk told BBC 6music that the film's director, Clark Gregg, asked Radiohead to get involved because he knew that the writer had been listening to the band's classic 1992 single "Creep" repeatedly while writing "Choke". A final release date for the film and soundtrack is yet to be announced. - NME.COM

VIDEOS: New Grizzly Bear Tunes

I really can't say enough about Grizzly Bear. I caught their 8/2 show here in Louisville and was literally blow away. A post about this band has been long overdue on this blog. I'm not the only one impressed as Thom Yorke and co. asked the band to open for them on Radiohead's second leg of their North American tour. With GB's last album Yellow House being released in '06, one can't be surprised that new tunes from them are popping up everywhere. Here are a couple stand outs that we can only hope will be a part of the next record. Enjoy!

Kings of Leon, New Album Details...

Kings of Leon are to release their new album, Only By The Night, on September 22nd and have just released the album track list in order, which is as follows:

1. Closer
2. Crawl
3. Sex On Fire
4. Use Somebody
5. Manhattan
6. Revelry
7. Seventeen
8. Notion
9. Want You
10. Be Somebody
11. Cold Desert

The first single off of the album will be Sex On Fire, which is set to be released on September 15th but will be available to be downloaded on September 9th.

Frontman Caleb Followill admits that the band as a whole took some pretty substantial risks by trying to invoke a larger sound that they achieved with their last departure album from their southern-roots-indie-rock, Because of the Times, which was released in spring of 2007. He was quoted as saying "You have to make a record you're pleased with, you can't worry about anybody else".
